Hagerstown, Maryland and Detroit, Michigan - GST AutoLeather, Inc. takes the "art" of automotive leathers to the Cranbrook Academy of Art for private shows May 11 through 13. The showings, in the Saarinen House Studio Spaces, will highlight the latest in automotive leather artistry for color and trim designers from the Detroit automotive industry.
In addition to the invitation-only automotive leather showings, the guests will also be treated to tours of the Cranbrook Art Museum and of the former residence of sculpture artist Karl Milles.
"In the development of new looks, textures, colors and other artistic elements for automotive leathers, we find inspiration from the world around us, just like a painter, sculptor or architect," explained Jerry Lamb, manager of design and marketing services for GST AutoLeather. "We felt the Modernist and Arts & Crafts environment of the Milles house and the Cranbrook Museum offered a perfect inspirational backdrop for exploring the latest in automotive leathers. Many of the automotive industry's designers have not had the time to visit and explore Cranbrook, so we felt this was an ideal opportunity to highlight our work and one of the Detroit area's cultural treasures."
Among the items being exhibited by GST AutoLeather are the latest design features, products and concepts in laser sketching technology, aniline leathers, the highly acclaimed Mystichrome leather and other top-of-the-range luxury leather products.
"At GST AutoLeather we are proud of our innovation, inspiration and leadership in areas like laser etching and aniline leathers," explained Lamb. "We are constantly exploring new ideas and new concepts that benefit our customers in the automotive industry and their end customers - the automobile consumers around the world."
The GST AutoLeather Design Show at Cranbrook is the third stop in the company's international tour of leather design excellence. Earlier this year the tour made stops in Japan and Los Angeles. In June the tour goes to China for showings in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. With the China exhibits, GST AutoLeather will become the first leather supplier to conduct an automotive leather design show in China.
